Pest Prevention deal with cockroach infestations
in Manchester, Lancashire &
Cheshire.
In the last 30 years numbers of cockroach infestations had fallen due
to improved insecticides and hygiene practices, however in the last few
years numbers seem to be increasing, mainly associated with imported
foodstuffs from countries where the cockroach is endemic.
The main types of cockroach commonly found in this country are
the
Oriental Cockroach and the German Cockroach.
The cockroach is not an easy pest to eradicate quickly as its egg case
or ootheca can lay dormant to cause reinfestation many months after the
treatments are concluded, it is advisable therefore to schedule routine
monitoring for about a year after the final treatment.
Cockroaches are quite large insects which can be distinguished by their
size and colour. The Oriental Cockroach is the larger of the two types
in the adult form.
